I just want to know if the events during Deathstroke hallucination were what would have happened, if he could’ve broken free.
I was incredibly excited by it, then at the end I was like “WOOO..oh…”. But even if it didn’t really happen, if there’s confirmation that it WOULD have, it’s just as good.

Deathstroke #25 has to be somewhere in my top 3 issues of this run. There was a lot of development on Slade’s past that managed to tug at the heart strings. If anyone was ever to ask me for a crash course on Deathstroke I could confidently direct them to this single issue.

It was a real treat to see what Slade’s capable of. With the recent news that Gareth Evans is being tapped to direct a Deathstroke solo film I was absolutely visualizing how all the action could look on the big screen.

I thought Deathstroke #25 was delightful. I’ve always loved the juxtaposition of superhero universes and real-life bureaucratic process (my favorite arc of your BP run is Strum und Drang, because of the political maneuvering with T’Challa, Namor, Magneto, and Doom). Your Riddler is a lot of fun, and the bit at the end where the Secret Society starts arguing about the nature of evil is interesting and of course also strikes to the heart of Slade’s character. Plus it makes for a nice contrast between the Good Old Days when characters would straight-up call themselves the Secret Society of Super-Villains or the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants and the more modern, more nuanced “everyone’s the hero of their own story, nobody actually considers themselves to be evil” approach.

eye just wonder Why was Riddler even defending Deathstroke was it because of their time together during The War of Jokes and Riddles

Does Priest ever respond to comments on this? I really want to know if the hallucination sequence caused by Hector is how the fight really would have played out had Deathstroke broken free. The dialogue suggest it is, but I’ve asked a couple people and they refuse to accept the statements made about Slade killing everyone in the room if he broke free.

Sorry, but I have real issues with Once and Future Kings’ timeline. As I recall, the Torch met the Inhumans as a whole when he was roughly a freshling in college; certainly then or before was when he met Medusa. And he and Spider-Man are the same age. And it’s generally considered the case that Peter was an HS sophomore when he became Spider-Man.

So, OaFK’s latest issue has an apparent teenage or early 20s Black Bolt, Medusa, and Maximus meeting Spider-Man, and a prepubescent Crystal is shown. The Crystal who within 2 years will be romantically involved with college freshling Johnny Storm? The Crystal who’s always seemed to be the same age, or at most a year or two either way from, Johnny’s age? And Black Bolt will have only been on the throne for a year or two when they meet the FF? Sorry, but in those stories he came across as someone who’d been King for a while, and was much more a contemporary of Reed and Ben than Johnny.

On the one hand, I like the characterizations and the story background. But the timeline and ages just don’t work for me, and the McGuffin to let Black Bolt do dialogue needs to be totally destroyed and un-reusable by the end since it wasn’t used at all for the first several decades (real time) of Inhuman stories or even in the most recent ones.
